I Tatti – The Harvard University Center for Renaissance Studies, Florence,
October-December 2021

In my ‘klecksographies’, ‘radiographies’ and in the series ‘Female composers’ signatures’, I found inspiration in the writings and illustrations of poets (Justinus Kerner), biologists (Ernst Haeckel), psychiatrists (Hermann Rorschach) and anthropologists (Carl Schuster). The residence at I Tatti – The Harvard University Center For Italian Renaissance Studies gave me the opportunity to pursue this conversation with present scholars, especially art historians and historians of science. My project centered around a revisitation of Hermann Rorschach’s 1921 Psychodiagnostics informed by Damion Searls’s recent biography of the author. The studio in Florence allowed me to extend my practice of klecksography into larger formats and on new supports including canvas.
