Die Scherenschnitte sind nicht geplant, sondern entwickeln sich aus einem gewählten Motif heraus. In den schwarz-weissen Silhouetten verstecken sich Figuren und Objekte, die sich erst beim Hineinschauen zeigen und oft zweideutig und/oder grotesk sind. Manche Kompositionen sind symmetrisch, weil ich das Papier gefaltet geschnitten habe, andere sind es teilweise, noch andere gar nicht. Ich arbeite oft gleichzeitig an verschiedenen Schnitten, so dass sie Serien bilden.

 

The paper cuttings are not premeditated but evolve around a chosen motif. Hiding among the black and white silhouettes, figures and objects can only be found by seeing in and remain often ambiguous and/or grotesque. Some of the compositions are symmetrical, as I have folded the paper before cutting it, other ones only partially, yet other ones not at all. I often work simultaneously on several cuttings, so that they form a series.
